On March 24th, the United States Men's National Team (USMNT) was crowned Concacaf Nations League winners for the third time in a row. They won this trophy in 2021, 2023, and now, in 2024, they dominate the tournament! The USMNT has a particular rivalry against Mexico, and for the fifth time since 2019, the U.S. won against Mexico with the familiar score of 2-0. The U.S. has beaten Mexico 2-0, so often, the fans have come up with the nickname Dos a Cero, which translates to 2 to 0. The USMNT also had their captain back in action that night, as Tyler Adams was back and healthy to start this final. This would be the first time Tyler Adams began a game in 478 days, and it was an essential final for this team; many were worried he would bring nothing to the team. Adams had torn his hamstring in 2023, came back to playing, but then reinjured the same leg and had to get surgery. But U.S. fans had nothing to worry about, as in the 45th minute of the game, seconds before halftime would begin, Adams scored a fantastic goal from distance, giving the USMNT a 1-0 lead before the break. The USMNT celebrated this goal as it was Adams’s first time scoring in a long time. Christian Pulisic brought the ball into the Mexican half of the field in the second half, dodged a harsh tackle from a Mexican defender, and was set for goal. Sadly, the Mexican goalkeeper, Memo Ochoa, blocked the shot by punching the ball away. Luckily for the U.S., Gio Ryna was making a late run in the box; he was on the rebound and scored for the U.S., making it 2-0 in the 63rd minute! In the 90th minute, the referee blew his whistle, and the game was over; the U.S. won the Concacaf Nations League tournament for the third time, making it a three-
peat! The USMNT continues to be the defending champions of this trophy!
