This month's teacher feature is Mrs. Saurer! Recently awarded the "Teacher of the Year" award, Mrs. Saurer is a beloved figure among her students, admired for her dedication and warmth in the classroom. She chose to teach because she wanted to leave work, feeling she made a difference. Her favorite thing about teaching is being around the students. If Mrs. Saurer were not a teacher, she would want to coach full-time. She would coach swimming, cross country, and track. When asked what her students would be surprised to know about her, she said, "I ran track in college." Not only did she like running in college, but she continues to run as a hobby today. Another hobby of hers is spending time with her kids. Her favorite fun fact is that otters hold hands while they sleep so they do not float away from their family. Mrs. Saurer's motivation is seeing her students succeed and being excited about their work. Her favorite subject is math. When asked what animal she would want to be, she said, "A horse because they are my favorite animal, very content, get to run, go free, and have no worries." Her favorite quotes are Psalm 118:24 and "There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy." Her favorite accomplishment is being awarded Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Saurer can also wiggle her ears, saying that's her hidden talent. Her teaching pet peeve is when students are on their phones while she is talking.
